Run the hot water

Good idea, worth the small tweaks
The basic idea that a standard tub can double as a steam room is sound. I reattached the hooks with silicone and taped a small hem along the edges — after that the curtain held the steam in well and the whole enclosure filled up nicely.

The hooks were the problem for me
It does help trap steam, but only if you seal the large gaps carefully. I installed the clips and let them sit overnight, and they still came off mid-shower. Clear packing tape worked much better for me.
